A Level Results

I would 100% recommend Leanne and A* English. Leanne’s constant support, help and determination made me realise with hard work I could reach my potential demonstrated by going from an E to an A! Something that would not have been possible without Leanne’s help.

By always setting homework Leanne helped me learn the materials as I had to know them, rather than thinking I knew them and just bluffing my way through a lesson, similarly, Leanne’s comprehensive but simple notes broke down the material so Icould follow and understand the play such as with Shakespeare.

Leanne also helped me develop new vocabulary therefore building a new confidence when discussing English in class.

The relaxed environment meant I didn’t feel like I was having another boring English lesson but actually I looked forward to learning in a comfortable, relaxed, flexible and friendly environment going home knowing I had learnt something that day and that I would also remember what I had learnt as the teaching was adapted round my needs, I was always the sole focus.

Basically in three words A* English is brilliant, fantastic and life changing and I should have used them earlier! Victoria

Exams are over for another year...

Hi I'm Marina, a Lead Tutor for A* English and have been working with the company for the past three years. I'm sure I am not the only one who feels exhausted after an intense few months preparing students for exams. Everyone has worked extremely hard and I have really enjoyed assisting them, in not only improving their English skills, but also helping them to cope with their exam anxiety and time management.

Overall, it has been another successful year for A* English and now we await results from our clients with anticipation. With hard team work from tutors and pupils we expect our results for this year to be very fulfilling! I especially am looking forward to working with Leanne to help improve English in Winchester and the surrounding areas for yet another school year in September. Hopefully we can also host another Revision Camp at Easter 2010 to boost those grades and confidence levels for the GCSE's.

Home Tuition, GCSE Revision Camp and the like...

Thanks to both Dave and Design on Toast for their tremendous and absolutely dedicated efforts to give A Star English the new look we were hoping for… Hurrah.

Both myself and colleague Marina are using the new look as a new energy to bring into 2009 and are busy planning and devising new exciting additions for this year’s GCSE Revision Camp. As usual, the camp will be based in Winchester, this year we will be enjoying improved facilities with a larger room with the added benefit of an outside area, for those that don’t fancy Starbucks at lunch time. Fortuitously the Camp falls close to the Easter Weekend this year, so it will mark the return of the celebratory chocolate based prizes that were sadly missed last year!

Corellied Away

As an upshot of the snow, I am making the most of a tuition free day by attempting to finish the rest of the beautifully tragic story, without shedding any more of the tears that Captain Corelli has already invoked. Lingering perhaps, on the pages a little more than necessary to delay Measure for Measure. . . which is the next on the list. But I’m guessing that this is unnecessary, since the ghosts of De Bernieres’ pages will live on after many many books to come.

Leanne.

Our First Post

Hello and welcome to our first blog post. My name is Dave and I am the astarenglish.com webmaster. We are all very excited about the new website I have been working closely with Leanne, her tutors and design on toast to provide the best on-line presence that we can.

Our aim is to build upon the success of a star english by increasing the popularity of home english tuition throughout the county of Hampshire. Home english tuition is thriving in the Winchester and surrounding areas and we really hope that our new blog is going to be a great think-tank for both our tutors and students alike.

We will be making regular updates to this blog from both tutors and those that they teach, so stay tuned, subscribe to the blog and if you are an a star student who wants to make a blog entry why not check out our
contact page and give us a bell.

Happy blogging..
